Russian Prime Minister urges French authorities to honour agreement reached earlier

Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev has urged the French authorities to stick to agreements reached earlier on the construction of a spiritual and cultural centre of the Russian Orthodox Church in Paris.
We wish to see the project is implemented because it is a symbol of our friendship, he said at a news conference after talks with his French counterpart Jean-Marc Ayrault.

According to the Voice of Russian correspondent, Medvedev pointed to the results of an opinion poll conducted by the daily Figaro that showed that 75 percent of Paris citizens support the construction of the centre.

Due to strict rules that regulate construction in the central districts of Paris, the original project was rejected. At present, a new project is being worked out.
