Bargain Barter on San Francisco Chronicle

An Ireland-based company has officially opened what it describes as the first simple and speedy swapping website for both, businesses and individuals to save big on.

Ireland, Cork (PRWEB) May 27, 2013

There’s an old adage that says nothing is this world is free, but thanks to the creation of a new platform called Bargain Barter, businesses and individuals across the globe will now be able to get what they need for free by using one of the world’s oldest methods: Bartering.
“Bargain Barter is pleased to offer both businesses and individuals an easy to use platform to exchange goods and services without the need for cash,” said Kevin Conan, spokesman for Bargain Barter, a new concept that involves swapping goods and services for businesses and individuals.

Conan went on to explain that Bargain Barter was developed, because its developers believe it’s the future or new way of doing business.

In fact, according to a recent survey, more than $12 billion in services and goods are exchanged each year without any cash changing hands.
“In light of statistics like those, we are looking to revolutionize the way that exchange takes place,” Conan stressed, before adding, “Bargain Barter strives to be extremely easy to use and you can be sure that this service will always be free and fast.”
The launching of Bargain Barter could prove to have perfecting timing as Ireland continues to recover from the 2008–13 Irish financial crisis, which was responsible for the country's fall into recession for the first time since the 1980s.

“In crisis time, swapping with Bargain Barter is the right solution to save cash,” Conan pointed out.
The company spokesman noted that utilizing Bargain Barter is done in three easy steps.
The first step, according to Conan, is to post the offer on Bargain Barter.
For example, a business needs radio advertising. The second step is to find a match. For example, a radio station willing to provide the business with radio advertising in exchange for a computer network system the business has.
The third and final step is to swap.

The future of bartering for individuals

Individuals have practised bartering for thousands of years. In very simple terms, you exchange goods or services with someone else. Centuries ago, a farmer may have bartered his sheep in exchange for grain from a neighbouring farmer to grow some crops.

The list of items that you could barter really is almost endless. For instance, boats, furniture, works of art, tools, appliances, cars, computers, TVs, vegetables from your garden etc. Just think of the services you could provide and swap such as babysitting, dog walking, running errands, and house keeping.

What if your next-door neighbour had a holiday home and you offered to mow their lawn every week for 12 months in exchange for two weeks holiday in their villa. You may be a plumber who needs a sit-on lawn mower to mow your half-acre lawn so you agree to install a bathroom for someone in exchange for his or her mower. You could offer to iron your friend’s clothes for a month in exchange for two tickets to go to a Coldplay concert.

In all these examples, no money changes hands and, in the current economic climate, that is one of the major benefits of bartering. It is estimated that swapping to the value of billions of dollars takes place every year and it is growing all the time. This is evidenced by the number of websites that have appeared on the Internet to do with bartering such as Bargain Barter. Thousands of individual swapping deals are done every week.

Looking at the example we gave above of bartering your neighbour’s holiday home in exchange for cutting their lawn - normally, if you were going to arrange a holiday, you would either pay for it out of your savings or, if you do not have the money available, probably pay for it on your credit card. You may well have every intention of clearing your credit card balance as soon as you receive your statement so that you do not pay any interest. However, it is quite possible that you won’t clear it and end up paying a lot of interest. If you had done some bartering for the holiday, as referred to above, you definitely would not have got further into debt.

So, swapping really is a great way of helping the family from a financial perspective and with sites like Bargain Barter available to you it can also be great fun getting involved in a variety of swapping deals. You will quickly become experienced in bartering, saving your family a great deal of money and benefiting by obtaining some worthwhile products and services.

Bartering really is a “win, win” situation. Enjoy!

The future of bartering !

Bartering has been around for centuries in some form or other with both individuals and businesses swapping items and services. But, what does the future hold for bartering especially for small and medium sized businesses (SMB)?

Well, in 2011 services and goods to the value of $12 billion were exchanged without any cash passing between the businesses involved. It is believed that more than 400,000 businesses around the world decided that they had something to swap and conducted business in this way. Whilst no figures are yet available for 2012, it is estimated that the volume of swapping was forecast to increase by anything between 5% and 10%.

It is the word “cash” that has been referred to above that is of particular relevance. This is because, in the current global economy with some countries going into and out of recession, it is the ability to raise cash to buy goods and services that is a problem for many small and medium size businesses. The problem is especially prevalent with new business start-ups.

Yes, when a new business sets out on its journey to eventually become a multi-national cash rich corporate entity there are so many things that can get in the way, not least of which is cash flow. It is difficult enough for a new business to win customers but it can be even harder to get those customers to pay their invoice on time. It becomes a vicious circle- if you can’t get your debtor monies in how can you take on more work if you have no funds available to pay for stock etc.

Herein lies one of the major benefits of bartering because no cash ever changes hands when your business swaps something. This means that any cash that the new business had intended to set aside to buy such things as office furniture, computer, photocopier, machinery and advertising to name but a few can be used to take on further work that you are paid in cash for.

Another benefit to your business of bartering is that it opens the door to more new customers that you may not have come across in the normal way of trading.  Some of these customers may wish to exchange goods by way of swapping but some will undoubtedly wish to conduct business in cash thus enabling you to further increase your bank balance.

Another consideration is that a new business would often require an overdraft facility to assist with cash flow on which interest and arrangement fees are required. By bartering goods and services, this may result in a reduced borrowing requirement thus containing the expenses of the business.

So, the future of bartering does look healthy and, especially with world economies in the state they are in, it is almost certainly going to continue to expand for the foreseeable future. As an ever-increasing number of businesses join the bartering community this will create further opportunities.

Globally, there are over 500,000 business trade exchange members. Thirty three per cent of small businesses in the United States of America enjoy the benefits of bartering.  Are you going to be the next new business that starts to dabble in swapping goods or services?
